AEC is national research and development consulting firm. It provides monitoring, evaluation, strategic planning, research, surveys and capacity building services to advance development effectiveness. It aims to address the contemporary policy challenges, such as the gaps between policy and practice, and to influence public policy through rigorous scientific research.

We seek to understand, learn from, and improve global development activities. AEC provides consulting, technical assistance, and training services to public and private aid agencies, non-governmental organizations, and governments. We help our clients plan for and measure development results. We strengthen staff and organizational performance. AEC works across sectors to reduce poverty, improve health and education, promote peace and democratic governance, foster economic growth, and protect the environment.

Although AEC has yet to produce outstanding results of policy research, the outcomes achieved so far by its consultants have clearly demonstrated the potential of AEC to evolve as the leading public policy think tank in Nepal. The experience of AEC's consultants in identifying a niche of research on the policy process in Nepal, creating a cross-disciplinary intellectual community across national boundaries, developing externally-funded research projects on partnership basis, capacity building of young researchers, and disseminating research results provides a solid foundation for strengthening the institute further.
